Places To Check When You Need CEUs (And Have No Desire To Go To Atlantic City)
Like many, you may find that you need CEUs either in a pinch, the place you usually use doesn’t offer a class you need or, if you’re like me, you hate the idea of going to the league in Atlantic City. Here are some options so you can keep your RMC active.
Training Unlimited, LLC

We’ve used and probably gained most of our CEUs from Training Unlimited. Now, the good thing about them is that most classes are two hours, they are on ZOOM, and there are many of them. However, they are a bit more pricier than the State options or your Clerk’s association, at $75.00. Also, some of the classes may trigger memories of you taking your initial clerk classes.
DLGS
(Generally Webinars)

The Department of Local Government Services, the people who issued your RMC, lists a slew of classes (usually 3-4 a month), priced around $50 – $75. Most of them are far more technical or in-depth than Training Unlimited – but still usually 2 hours.
NJLM

Cheaper than the DLGS sometimes, only by $5, if your town is an NJLM member, but with far fewer classes, you can get CEUs from the New Jersey League of Municipalities without leaving your desk. The main benefit of NJLM classes is that, sometimes, you can get four credits (9 AM to 12:40 PM classes), with one usually something in finance and another category requirement, more than likely records or professional development.

Connell Consulting, LLC

Note: Their class, of which only one applies to Clerks (OPRA for Practioners), is far more for police officers than Clerks. However, with it being from 9 AM to 4 PM, and their classes approved for six credits (they don’t specify which, but it is OPRA, so let’s say records), if you need credits in records or to hit the 20 you need for renewal, this twice a year class could help out for the price of $149.00.
